STF detects Rs. 43 million worth illegal cigarettes

The intelligence unit of the police Special Task Force (STF) made a detection of illegal cigarettes outside the Colombo port, worth Rs. 43 million which is said to be largest detection.

The detection was made in the evening hours of today in Makola, Kelaniya in which the contraband was hidden inside a container. Six persons had been arrested and handed over to the Sapugaskanda Police.

The STF operations which are part of a special crackdown on organized crime was initiated by the IGP Mahinda Balasuiya, STF Commandant K.L.M Sarathchandra, SP Waruna Jayasundara and ASP Sisira Kumara.
