SL President Rajapaksha in a three day visit to Nepal

ජනපති නේපාලයේ සංචාරයක ඔක්. 29 - ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා දෙදින නිල සංචාරයක් සදහා අද පෙරවරුවේ නේපාලය බලා පිටත්ව ගියේය.

ජනාධිපති මාධ්‍ය අංශය පැවසුවේ විදේශ කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය රෝහිත බෝගොල්ලාගම මහතා ඇතුළු පිරිසක් ද මේ සංචාරයට එක්ව සිටිති.

ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා නේපාල ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙන් ම එරට ප්‍රධාන පෙලේ නායකයින් හමුවීමට නියමිත බව ජනාධිපති මාධ්‍ය අංශය පවසයි.

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa has arrived on a three day state visit to Nepal on the invitation of the Nepali President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav Monday morning.

“The Sri Lankan President and Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will hold bilateral talks on issues related to trade, investment, tourism, agriculture, aviation and other feasible areas where the two countries can cooperate with each other. A Foreign-minister level joint commission will be announced after the meeting”, the Nepali government announced.

The Sri Lankan President arrived in Nepal accompanied by his wife Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa , Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama and Minister for Export Development and International Trade Dr. M.V. P. Peiris amidst unprecedented security arrangements by the Nepali government.

Rajapakse is the highest level foreign dignitary to visit Nepal after the Constituent Assembly elections in April last year and the third Sri Lankan President to visit Nepal ever.

Prachanda and Rajapaksa will sign a bilateral air service agreement that will help establishing direct air-link between Kathmandu and Colombo .Due to the extraordinary security arrangements by the Nepali government traffic was diverted from all roads leading to the Tribuvan International Airport at the Nepali capital Kathmandu . It was revealed that 1500 personnel from Nepali Police, armed police force and army have been deployed to ensure the security of the Sri Lankan President .While President Rajapaksa was visiting at the invitation of the Nepali President he is also the Chairman of the South Asian regional organization, SAARC, the secretariat of which is in Nepal .

Being a leader of a Buddhist country the Sri Lankan President will also visit Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha and other Buddhist holy places including a monastery run by the Sri Lankan government.

President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav also was scheduled to host a banquet at his office in honour of the Sri lankan President , Monday evening.
